Cross promotion is simply putting your domain name and URL on every piece of sales collateral, marketing material, email signature blocks invoices, everything. One point that seems obvious: make your URL as simple to remember as possible. There is also nothing as sound as .com. Now I know that is not always possible, but to extent you have to use another top level domain like .net or a hyphenated or very long domain name, then you have to be triple sure to market it like there is no tomorrow because people will mis-remember it.
